Usually every Sunday, I post on a random topic of my random choosing…the so-called Sorta Random Sunday posts. Well, this week I am making an exception to instead share a very exciting announcement. And that is…the launch of the *brand new* Physician Real Estate Investor Network or PhREI!
This is a joint venture that I am starting out on along with Daniel Shin of The Darwinian Doctor and Ian Cook of Carpe Diem MD. And I could not be more excited. Our goal is to bring you all the best and most comprehensive content out there on real estate investing for physicians, from all sorts of unique perspectives.
There is no catch.
This is just a more effective and efficient way to bring all of you, who are interested in real estate investing, more free and actionable content!
What is the PhREI network?
The PhREI Network is The Physician Real Estate Investor Network. (PhREI is pronounced “free”…coincidentally very close to my last name which is pronounced “fry.”)
The members of this network are physician bloggers who use real estate as a primary investment vehicle.
What is the purpose of the PhREI network?
There are a few things we all hope to achieve with the creation of this network.
- Facilitate collaboration and the sharing of educational content.
- Create a portal for readers to find content related to real estate investing.
- Increase the sense of community amongst physician real estate oriented bloggers.
With collaboration comes opportunity. For now, this network will connect readers to great content. With time, it’ll become an educational resource unto itself and facilitate investment. The sky’s the limit!
Founding Member: The Darwinian Doctor
The Darwinian Doctor is the nom de plume of Daniel Shin, MD. He’s a surgeon, real estate investor, and blogger of course at The Darwinian Doctor.
On this blog, he writes about his journey from a childhood of financial scarcity to graduating medical school $300,000 in debt. Now he is specializing in oversharing details about his finances while building a real estate empire to achieve morbidly obese financial independence (moFIRE).
He is a firm believer in the power of mindset and optimism. His motto is “intentional evolution, every day.”
Founding Member: Carpe Diem MD
Ian Cook, MD is the founder of Carpe Diem MD. He’s an emergency medicine physician whose life changed dramatically after a devastating injury in 2014. This taught him the importance of enjoying the present while diversifying income streams for the future.
He owns a growing portfolio of long and short term rentals in two states. He’s a writer, investor, and avid snowboarder, all while practicing full time in wound care and hyperbaric medicine.
His blog has some of the most targeted, useful advice that I’ve ever seen for short term rental specialists. Carpe Diem MD is especially great for full time physicians who want to utilize powerful tax deductions from short term rentals.
If you’re looking to get into short term rental or want to learn to “seize the day,” this is your blog.
Founding Member: The Prudent Plastic Surgeon
That’s a’ me!
As you likely know, I am Jordan Frey, MD, founder of the Prudent Plastic Surgeon. I’m a new attending plastic surgeon who loves teaching residents how to find a great job, manage their money, and achieve contentment as an attending. Just last year, he graduated fellowship over $400,000 in debt, and is making rapid progress towards financial freedom through buy and hold real estate investing, debt paydown, and traditional investing.
For both current trainees or long-time attendings, there’s a wealth of useful information on this rapidly growing blog.
I’m really so excited to share the unveiling of the Physician Real Estate Investor Network (PhREI) with Daniel, Ian, and you all today! On a regular basis, I’ll be sharing content from PhREI network partners on this blog. Please check out their blogs and enjoy!
As the network evolves, it’ll get its own dedicated website with unique content.
As always, thank you for your support and for making me love what I do!
