Welcome to Season 3 of the Doctors & Dollars podcast! The new season kicks off with a fantastic interview with some doctors working from Chad, Africa.
Olen Netteberg, an ER doctor, has lived in Chad with his wife Danae, an OB-gynecologist and their 5 kids.
As missionary doctors in Africa, they have operated a remote hospital there for 11 years straight out of residency training. He describes the highs and lows of practicing in a place with power from generators, near lack of sterility in the OR and Ultrasound and X-Ray machines as their most sophisticated imaging tools. And the deep satisfaction of caring for a huge population while treating everything from head trauma to obstetric fistulas.
Hats off to them for giving such a huge chunk of their lives to this severely underserved part of the world.
Words are grossly insufficient to express the depth of their work. Talking to Olen really made us question the validity of our first own world problems. Perspective is everything.
We are proud to present is awesome interview. Wish you the best of luck Olen and Danae!
